Software Developer, Java Core and Web Applications Technology

Contract Location: Pleasanton, CA
Contract Length: 3-6 months – could go longer
Contract Rate: $45-50 per hour to 1099 (Our own candidates if possible, 1099-$45-50 or W2-$40-45 per hour)

Job Description: Our client is looking for a Software Developer – Java Core and Web Applications Technology to:

Design and enhance a large web-based 3-tier transaction system.
Interact with Business Owners, QA, Systems Support, and Marketing to ensure success of our applications and to understand how to improve the utility of our systems.
Write and maintain software using a variety of languages including Java, Perl and PL/SQL.
Collaborate with other developers in developing solutions that meet identified business requirements.
Participate in the design of large-scale systems and assist other engineers with completion of their projects.


Required Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
Experience with JBoss
Experience with JMX (Mbeans)
Experience with Hibernate
Experience with JDOM
Experience with Apache Jakarta.
Experience with J2EE technologies - Java servlets, Java Server Page (JSP), JDBC, XML, JavaBeans, and RMI.
Minimum of three years developing Java code “from scratch” without relying on code generators.
Experience in an internet-based production and development environment.
At least five years experience writing high-performance OO software.
Strong development experience in a Unix/Linux environment, including shell scripting.
Design and development experience creating and using Oracle database interfaces and database schemas.
Working knowledge of HTML
Experience writing Javadoc
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build strong relationships with team members
Detail-oriented and deadline-driven

Desired Experience:

Experience with Web Services (SOAP, HTTP over XML) or MISMO XML is very desirable but not required.
Experience writing Perl is a plus
